Hi Gary - think there are about three different versions of St Helens Striders in the list of clubs (St.Helens Striders, St Helens Striders and St. Helens Striders) Think we are all there - apart from Chris and they have managed to include my hubby and Step-father in-law as striders as I submitted their entries at same time as mine!
Sorry for my rant it was still a great day and I will run it again I have unfinished business, the best part of the day for me was about 1/4 of a mile before exiting the tunnel the crescendo of noise was amazing and coming up to the finish line I thought the atmosphere was amazing I thought that there must have been a celebrity runner behind me because of all the cheers so I had a quick glance back and nobody there but since found out Claire was gaining fast (well done Claire) and then I realized the cheers were all for me a surreal experience I have never experienced b4 even though I have completed London 3 times
Gary ditto on the crowd support it was something special coming out the tunnel. I too have unfinshed business with that race, hopefully next years race will be better organized!!
I also thought that the Liverpool crowd was amazing - coming out of the tunnel and then into Old Hall Street gave me such a buzz! And it lasted all the way along Wapping until the bottom of Parliament street!
Then on the home stretch for the last mile - it was so uplifting! I got so many 'come on St Helens/Saints' - wish I'd had my name on my vest now! First time I have experienced anything like it having only done a few small races so far and I won't forget it! Think 13.5-15 miles and 25.2-26.2 miles were my fastest and it was all down to that crowd!
The scousers certainly do it well - despite them all having to hang around in the rain and with the late start! RunLiverpool should most certainly be thanking the people of Liverpool (and Merseyside) for making that event so good in the end!
PS - it sounds like many Striders will be back for more next year! perhaps best to wait a few weeks before starting the hill training - Shaley Brow anyone?
