Hi, I went to see the physio you recommended today,, he suggested i go see a podiatrist and get some suitable running trainers, and to build up by interval training, so i am going to do all of the above and do some small runs for a few weeks before back running with the club, he recommended a place called natterjacks ...for my shoes, is this the best place??..he thinks i will be ok for march do you think i should sign up for the sthelens 10k now and hope for the best or wait and see how it goes??

Hi Donna,

Natterjacks are ok but expensive and they dont have that great a choice, if I was you I would go to Natterjacks for their advice and see what shoes they recommend then buy online or at Sports Direct, they tend to have a good running section and they are reasonably priced. I know alot of striders go to Sports Direct once they know which shoe is right for them. The shoes in Sports Direct are labelled up for under pronators/over pronators and neutral.

Good Luck!

Hello Donna
I hope you are well, I agree with Ged  just use the expertise of  Natterjacks or any specialist shoe shops except DW aka JJBbiggrin  for the right shoe then get them off the net,as regards  the 10K i would give it a miss because you will not have been  back running long after you injury and this course is quite a demanding one and don,t forget there are loads of 10Ks coming up Good running

Hi Donna,

I went to DW last year and I had a free testing on my 'gait' on a treadmill machine with a camera on it. It pointed out where my feet needed help and they recommended a pair of trainers. They were excellent. I recently bought a spare pair of trainers from Sports Direct and these trainers are very uncomfortable for running. I have recenly entered two 10k races for March and May and I'm not fit yet but will be putting in more work to get fitter, so try it!

Donna

A really good podiatrist I used was Alpine Podiatry in Rainford 01744 884051. I hope you get it all sorted.
