Mike, I'm doing GNR and yes we are staying at the official campsite. Really looking forward to it now, first half marathon after a good number of months training
Thanks for all of the good luck wishes. Well I have survived the Great North Run and managed 2 hours 27 mins with an official position of 27488th, not too bad I thought at least there were a lot behind me.
The experience was fantastic and will do it again next year (well minus the camping!!) Thanks to everyone for supporting me as I definitely now know that the hill training was a necessity lol!!
I hadn't run for 2 weeks before this to try and get rid of an Achilles injury. Thought it was ok but progressively got worse during the race. Started first few miles at 8 min miles. Ended up limp running at the end. Disappointing time of 2hr 25 minutes. I thought I was capable of doing under 2 hours.
Well done Sarah and Mike on your GNR, Mike give your achilles injury ample time to recover that means plenty of rest and ice see you soon take it easy. FrankMc
Well run "Alf Tupper"i had already seen your time and position on the GNR site, take it easy and good running ah your not bad for a pie eater.See you soon FrankMc
I completed in 1.32:54, 922nd place. Great weekend, definitely the best race of the year. Saw Colin at the start, he was doing the race in a chicken suit, what a hero. Think he finished in around 3 1/4hrs.
