many thanks all!! I cant believe that we all train in themost brutal weather conditions all winter just for it to be so hot on the day!! couldnt be worse!! but weve done it before and we will do it again, feeling v positive, hyperactive, full and drowning in water!! Will post as soon as we can !!

Well the race is over now. Sorry to say that I pulled out at mile 11. For me the heat was too intense, there was no shade on the route and very little breeze. I guess you either feel comfortable or you don't, and after 11 I didn't feel settled, or happy and I was drinking too much water for my liking. Frustrating after months of training, but these things happen. So my hat goes off to Jo who battled on like a true strider and completed the course in 4 hrs and 42 minutes. She did so well!! Was good to see her cross the finish line, and I am full of admiration for her. The course was good, fairly flat and good running surface. Well organised and well priced.

Don.t worry to much about todays run Rach that heat was uncomfortable just to sit in never mind running a marathon in, there is always another day hopefully a cooler one have 1 or 2 wines(glasses or bottles )tonight and relax ,also well done Jo good time in those conditions no doubt you also will have quite a few sherbets tonight take it easy see you next week FrankMc
thanks Rach, you made the right decision, its too risky when its so much out in the hills and the heat AND over that distance, I have to take me hat off to you too, cos you made a decision i couldnt have, you will run another day whereas I potentially could have ended up ill!! think of it like that!! I will deffo do that race again, first half a bit boring , tho, but 2nd half i really enjoyed up to 23 mile between 23-25 its downhill, severly!! and it hurts!!! as you all know! I made up not only that i did it but i did it without sustaining any injuries and actually feelin better than i ever had after a marathon, so training IS paying off altho not in overall time. cheers frank, im refulling with a bowl of lentils ,peas ,barley and beans!! and water!! then i will have maybe just a couple!!

theres plenty more events to show your running ability, you knew beforehand you werent really set for this one,its all part of the learning experience. Hold your head high and look to the future.
Jo
well done, that heat was intense today, I did 10k last night, 6pm ish, sweating buckets. Dont know what temp it was there but Im sure it was hot.
Take my hat off to both of you, to attempt running that distance yesterday was amazing. Don't think I could have done it. Rach sometimes the harder decision is to pull out you made the right call.
Jo, very well done, just make sure you now give your legs a well deserved race.
Rach, take credit from having the mental strength to make a very hard decision. It was the right decision and it must have been really difficult for you. You could have easily done yourself some serious harm if you had carried on. You still have all the training in your legs to have a really good race season over summer.
thanks Brian , did you really mean give my legs a really good race??!!!! i dont need much encouragement!!! Ive been back out running but only very easy, im not going to do handicap tomorrow nyt as i will only go at it to hard and ive not got any fast in me this week, will give it a miss and just easy run
