Run for the RNLI in 2008!

Struggling to keep up your winter training? Looking for a challenge to inspire you in 2008? Why dont you sign up for the experience of a lifetime, running for the RNLI at any of the fantastic races we have places at this year!

We have a whole range of opportunities for you to make 2008 a memorable year. If youre looking to get fit after Christmas, set a target to keep you going through the winter months, or just enjoy the atmosphere of running and raising money in a great location with lots of others, why dont you consider raising money for the RNLI while you do it? We really do need your support, and by raising funds for the RNLI you will be directly contributing to the essential lifesaving service offered by our volunteer crews. Those crews rescued an average of 22 people per day last year at a cost of up to £5,800 per launch. Your contributions are the only way that the RNLI can continue to maintain its ring of safety around the British Isles.

As well as guaranteed places at the worlds largest half-marathon, the Great North Run (5th Oct, www.rnli.org.uk/greatnorthrun), we also have guaranteed places at the increasingly popular Great Manchester Run (18th May, www.rnli.org.uk/greatmanchesterrun). The 10km course takes in the sights of Manchesters cosmopolitan city centre, taking you out to Salford Quays and Old Trafford before finishing back in the city centre. Our post-race parties at both of these events include a reviving massage to soothe those aching limbs!

Or why not try the up and coming Premier Run Tamworth 10km race (4th May, www.rnli.org.uk/events), which offers a great atmosphere and finishes in the grounds of the spectacular Tamworth Castle. This event promises to become a staple of the Midlands running calendar, and provides a fantastic opportunity to compete alongside international athletes, whilst enjoying all of the benefits of a professionally organised race (regardless of your pace!).

We also have a small number of places in both the Mini and Junior Great Manchester Runs to be held on Saturday 17 May 2008 at Sportcity, the day before the half marathon in Manchester. We are looking for kids from 3 to 8 yrs for the Mini Great Manchester Run and 9 to 14 yrs for the Junior Great Manchester Run. Anyone who would be interested in running for fun and raising money for the RNLI at the same time is welcome!

And for those who like to plan ahead.. Mark Sunday 30th November down in your diaries as the date of the RNLI Reindeer Run at Knowsley Hall in Merseyside. There will be a 10km and 5km race as well as plenty of festive fun for spectators. Antlers will be provided!

For more information on any of our adrenaline events, please go to our website (www.rnli.org.uk/events), email events_n@rnli.org.uk or call 0161 787 8779. Keep an eye out for new events that well be posting up there throughout the year and get out there and challenge yourself in 2008!

Best wishes,

Lisa
