I had a £28 cheque come out of my bank account the other day and I couldn't work out what it could be. After talking with a few others on wed I decided it has to be the entry fee for the london marathon.
Unfortunately I said I would bequeth my money if i didnt get a place (I was feeling very generous at the time) so I don't know if I have a place or not!
Has anyone else applied, didn't bequeth it, and has had the money taken out of their account?? Thanks!!
In my experience (entered 3 and unfortunatley never had a place) they cash your cheque within a day or 2 of the closing date - but you should hear end Nov/beg Dec. I have applied for our free club entry but this does not close until 26/11, last time I did not receive the application for this until Beg Jan.
We tend to put all the names in the hat of those that have entered and not received a place.
Hi Rach, my cheque as been cashed but mine is an automatic entry ,so that isnt any help to you.I bequeathed my entry fee just the once and didnt get in that year. Someone later told me dont bequest your money, you wont get in , because they are guarenteed your money anyway, i dont know if there is any truth in that. S o fingers crossed for now.
My dad called before- got my rejection pack this morning consisting of an oversized jacket and some other things to make the disapointment easier to handle! Ah well, was only my first time at applying so will hve to try again! See you all tonight at the handicap (i shall be wearing a santa hat...)
Rach, its not the end of the world you will still get in through the club place just means you have to pay the entry fee again , make sure you keep hold of your rejection letter five rejections means they have to let you in Gary C
H i Rach , well done in getting the club place for the FLM,it was jolly decent of Danny to withdraw and allow you to havethe place. But that is typical of Striders members,we are not a large club, but we are a nice club. Everyone at the club will wish you well for London,i hope your training goes well.Your long Sunday run is very important in marathon training, time out on legscounts for a lot,you need to get your body used to running 3 hours plus. take care. Love John
Yes thankyou for letting me run in the club place. I will be feeling quite proud if i can cross the line in a striders vest. I wont let you all down!! Really enjoyed last nights meal (only a slight headache this morning), it is always a good laugh when we all get together.
Hope you all have a very merry christmas and for those of you who are coming, I will see you on thursday.
