It's only(!) 6 miles, cheap (£3.50) and local. I was thinking it might make a nice alternative to the Saturday morning long run. It'll give the Grindleforders and off-road lovers a bit of a tough training session! Oh, and it finishes near a pub
Take care, Kev

I think you just pay on the day Rach. You'll all be pleased to know that the finish is at the summit of Ashurst Beacon!! Imagine running a 10K and crossing the line on Billinge lump - I think we can safely say a sprint finish is not on the cards...
See you all at the club later

Twas not a lovely day, any day, to run them hills,I used to call Kev a friend but at the end I called him something completely different I now feel better after many pints of medicinal Guiness in the company of Jo & Mike aka the curry couple
I'm afraid to say John's summary is fair. It was definitely challenging in parts - a treacherous, icy, steep downhill start and gruelling last couple of miles when it was a slow, somewhat muddy, slog back uphill with a nice little Shaley-like finish . I found it torture at times and a bit of a wake-up call!
On the plus side, the route was nice on the eye and afterwards I got to sample Rach's homemade soup which was delicious!
Overall though, a nice little Grindleford-lite for the price of a pint of lager but nowhere near as refreshing!

Kev it was fantastic!! As I sauntered round only just managing to beat the 77 year old!!! I had to stop to admire the waterfall, i just couldnt help it! totally forgot I was actually in a race, but then again after the first hill and only just managing to overtake said 77 year old I kinda give up and just ran it for sheer pleasure! ! ha ha ha Anyway overall a very tough run andi big wake up call for Grindleford!! Whats next Kev??
Medicinal guiness Skinners? all 7 of them? Hmmmm !
