Hi Bernie - you appear to be a lady very much in demand at the moment but Jo suggested I get in touch (weeks ago to be fair)!
I think I need to see someone about my knee - it started to give me some jib as I increased my mileage and now it won't let me do a thing! Hard to describe what is wrong - ache down side of leg, knee locks a bit but then it tricks me and starts to feel okay again after a few days rest! But it is getting worse and I realise I need to get some rest and see someone about it.
Have the sports injury clinics started at the college yet - is there any opportunity to see anyone a bit later on in the evening???? I am going to find it hard to get anywhere before 6:30pm due to having to pick kids up from nursery after work! Would appreciate it if you could let me know if you could help or point me in the direction of anyone else who could?
HI Charley, jo just text me so thought id pop online and give you a quick reply....we are only doing the clinics during the day on a monday 4.30 till 5.45 and tuesday 10 till 12. You could come and seem me privately at my home treatment room tonight or tues after 7pm (if you dont mind my kids being around) or I could come to you weds / thurs eve (if you live in st helens).
In the meantime, ice your knee or wherever it feels sore, tender or swollen for 15mins every 2hrs or at least 3 times a day. You can massage around the area with an ice cube and you will find this will help a lot. My number is 07786044277 and I charge £20 for an initial treatment which will take an hour including consultation.
I am going to try to get down to the clinic at the college on Monday - what time is the latest you can turn up? and how long does a consult usually last? Will need to skive off work a bit early.
And do I need to book-in at all or is a walk-in clinic? and also where about should I come to - building wise that is?
hi chaley thats great you can come, your consultation and treatment will be up to an hour long so you would need to come at 4.30, yes you need to book, once people know we're up and running its really busy............I'm booked up on monday now, but ive booked you in with Jackie who is also a self employed sports therapist and is excellent (jackie fixes me! )

Had to laugh at your comment about wearing shorts- i had a funny incident with a physio a few years ago when i had a serious 'blonde moment'-...i wont say any more than that! But Bernie, glad to see you are helping our members. It is such a good thing to be aware of and hopefully it will give our members the help and advice they need, whilst supporting you in your professional development

haha laughing at blonde moment ! yes rach isn't it great that ppl are asking for help/advice and best of all getting some freebie treatment down at the clinic ! Im learning so much about running specific injuries and loving it - I cant wait to start seeing some great treatment results and getting people back to what they love doing !
My own running training is going better this time, managing to stay injury free myself and very slowly building up my running time/distance, yeay ! cheers Bernie
i can definatley vouch for the treatments provided at the clinic!! Bern has fixed my foot!! and im back running pain free after taking the advice of resting and icing!! the advice from the qualified therapist is amazing, his knowledge of just 'knowing ' whats wrong without hardly even touching is really impressive!! The ice cube to the point of injury is really really good!!! not sure i will be so sprightlly after Grindleford mind you!! im having my pre event massage tonite as well as resting today and tommorrow.
I remembered my shorts! so no embarrassment there!
Problem appeared to be IT band - it was quite tight as was my calf and buttock! and an interesting use of the elbow to sort out buttock tension!!!
Anyway thanks for booking me in to see jackie - will be down again next week as my leg feels loads less tense! will be having a little run tomorrow - with jackie's approval!
Thanks also Jo for convincing me to go - defo well worth the visit!
Hiya Charley, thanks for feedback and am so please youre getting it sorted - yes we like elbows in buttock ! lols see you at next clinic good luck with your running this week x BernieJ
