Good luck to all Striders who may be running over the Bank holiday,John S is it your marathon this weekend? If so have good un, take it easy, conserve energy early on treat the distance with respect but most of all enjoy good luck See you all Weds FrankMc
I went to see the doctor on Friday who strongly advised against it, Im well on the mend but he said I'd be lucky if I finished it and if I did, it would take ages to get over it and make me high risk to catch any other bugs and viruses going round.
Ive trained really hard, sticking to my programme religiously. Although Im gutted its no good going into it any less than 100%, physically and mentally. So I just need to build my strength back up gradually and focus on my next challenge.
Bad news John, but well done on taking the docs advice, I understand completley how gutted you must feel, and its a credit to you for deciding against it , Anglesey is still open for full and half if you wanted to set yourself a challenge! Take care and see you next week

got the same sort of advice from my Doc on friday, can take weeks to go, and nothing they can give, but Doc said to try a nasal spray.. bought one today £6 but still coughing, but give it time..
You have done the right thing John by listening to the Doc cos you need to be 100% mentally and physically fit to be upto the challenge of a marathon there are loads of other marathons to do, take it easy . FrankMc
