When the grand prix was set up it was based on 4 distances from 5 mile to half maratahon, however it tends to favours the faster runner. This has never been an issue as one of the aims of the GP was to get members competing in races and have competion between members of similar ability. Some other clubs have more complicated GPs which have weightings for age and other calculations.

What do you want? Do we keep the same format, modify or replace it with a different event? Your comments would be welcome.

This will be on the agenda to discuss at the AGM which Dawn will be arranging for May.

For now assume we keep the same distances and try to do a 5 mile and 10 mile as early in the year as you can.

It is usually the 5 mile and 10 mile race which members miss out on and stops them completing the 4 distances. As you will see on the club event page there are lots of 10k and half marathons about.

Below is a list of 5 mile and 10 mile races which ran last year with the 2010 dates. I have not been able to find some of the regular races e.g. Sefton Park 5m ( usually July) or Sale 10m ( usaully Aug).

Hi Brian

Personnally I think the current distances are a good idea and gets people involved in races they wouldn't ordinarily enter. The only other suggestion I would have, would be to include a chorley race, thus increasing our participaton in the event. or even having a seperate competition for chorley- maybe most improved over the 4 races/ fastest runner/ most improved since last year (now that the course is staying the same).

Just a thought!
